Meditation is the ancient art of tranquil peace that is available to everyone, providing an unlimited wellspring of calmness and joy that can be accessed at any time. In this five-week class, insights will be shared into calming the mind and guided group sitting and walking meditations will be led, which will give participants a first-hand experience of meditation, and provide a framework to bring the practice home. This class is open to beginners as well as advanced sitters and is guaranteed to bring some peace into your life. Please wear warm/comfortable clothing and bring a small blanket or cushion. Seth Monk was born and raised in Andover, Massachusetts. At the age of 18, he became a disciple of a Vietnamese Zen Master and began practicing meditation formally. After graduating from University, Seth travelled to Germany where, in 2005, he ordained as a Buddhist monk and lived for 8 years in a monastery.

During his ordained years, he worked in a Chinese Medicine clinic and began guiding students in their spiritual practice. Over the years, Seth started teaching prolifically, he founded various meditation groups, led retreats around the world, and was able to practice with some of the famous Buddhist masters of our time, including His Holiness XIV Dalai Lama, Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh, Tenzin Palmo, and Ajahn Brahm.

After leaving the monastery in 2014, Seth travelled to India where he continued his training in various monasteries and holy sites before joining a 3-month retreat in a Thai Forest monastery in Australia.

Upon returning to America, Seth taught at various locations in Massachusetts including Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and in the Andover school system.He is currently the CEO of Returning Peace (, a company that trains employees of businesses, hospitals, and schools in integrating peace into their daily lives.

Emergency Sheets are required for ALL individuals (adults & youth) participating in any Andover Recreation programs, events, and trips. They must be filled out for each individual annually. Some programs will require additional paperwork or a new Emergency Sheet to be filled out.
