Adult Recreation Programs

  • Gentle Yoga
    Yoga promotes flexibility, strength, and relaxation through a series of gentle stretching postures and deep breathing exercises. Class ends with a guided meditation and is suitable for all levels. Bring a mat.
  • Men's Pick-Up Basketball
    Join Andover Rec on Monday or Tuesday nights for pick-up basketball. Each week teams will be formed from those who are in attendance and games will be played. A reversible Andover Rec pinny is required and will be issued at the first session. Please choose a size whe registering. An $8.00 charge will be added if you do not have a pinny from a previous session and need one. Players may only sign up for one session, Monday OR Tuesday.
  • Adult Co-Ed Softball League -- Information Page
    Our league has a long tradition in Andover at Rec Park. Stop by to cheer on your favorite team, Monday–Friday evenings from 6-10 pm. The fall league runs through October. Spring league play begins in May.
  • Adult Archery
    Come as you are and let go of tension as you let go of the string with this age-old sport. Experience the ancient feeling of hitting a target with just a bow and arrow. Safety and proper form are emphasized and equipment is provided. Participants will learn proper shooting form, safety rules, and archery games. All equipment is provided.
  • Ballroom Dance - Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced Classes
    Ballroom dancing has become extremely popular over the past few years. This program is designed to let the student progress easily from one level to the next while learning the most popular dances, step by step. It’s a good way to get some exercise, meet new friends, and have some fun. Just think how great you’ll look dancing at your next wedding or special event!
  • Couch to 5K - Updated Start Date
    Too many people are turned off to running simply by starting out too fast. This program will allow you to ease into a running program gradually. In fact, this beginners’ program is less of a running regimen and more of a walking and jogging program. Class will take place twice a week, with a third day routine sent home for you to do on your own. At the last class, we will hold our own mock 5K! T-shirts will be provided. The idea is to transform you into the runner you’ve always imagined, and get you running 3.1 miles on a regular basis in no time!
  • Tennis Lessons
    Saturday or Monday, Wednesday Lessons Offered Comprehensive tennis instruction for players of all ability levels. The beginner course offers an introduction to the game and basic stroke patterns. The intermediate course is designed to drill all strokes. Come dressed to play and bring a racquet. Make-up only for classes rained out prior to the start of class.
  • Pickleball Leagues
    Played on a smaller court, players will have the chance to build agility and hand eye coordination while still getting a good workout. Each week, teams will be formed from those who are in attendance and games will be played. Please bring your own paddle.

  • 3rd Annual Marty DeFrancisco Memorial Softball Tournament
    The Marty DeFrancisco Memorial Softball Tournament is being held in honor of a long time softball league player and Andover resident who passed away suddenly last April. The tournament will include food, music, and fun for players and spectators alike. This will be an all day event on Saturday, April 29th. Rain Date Sunday, April 30th.   • Twice-A-Week Tennis
    This play-action class is for beginners as well as for serious tennis players who want to improve their game. Players will be grouped according to their ability level. Come prepared to learn top spin on serve, forehand, and backhand. Bring a racquet. Make-up only for classes rained out prior to the start of class.
  • NEW! Nordic Walking
    Nordic Walking is a type of walking that engages the entire body and can be enjoyed by everyone. Using the body’s natural motion, Nordic Walking incorporates walking poles (similar to ski poles) into your walk. By using poles, you will increase calorie burn by 40%; poles also add balance and stability as well as help reduce strain on joints. First class will teach proper form and demo poles will be available for trial and fit to each participant. Poles will be available for purchase ($65) at the end of the first class.
