FC Academy Introduction to Filmmaking

Ages 10-14

In this class, students can bring their creative ideas to fruition in a fun, collaborative and exciting environment. Students will learn skills in scriptwriting, storyboard sketching, character development, improvisation, and camera skills. Together, the group will write, shoot, and edit a film in a genre of their choosing. Students will learn to edit their films using professional editing software like Final Cut Pro. All films will also be made eligible to be screened at the Boston International Kids Film Festival at the Somerville Theater in November 2017. Please bring a snack, drink and a lunch.

NEW SUMMER REGISTRATION POLICY: Registration closes one week prior to the program beginning. A late fee of $25 will be charged to anyone registering within one week of the start date of a program. No refunds/credits available to those who register within one week of start date.

ALL participants (youth & adults) must have a completed & signed Emergency Information Sheet on file in order to participate in Rec programs. Registration over the phone will not be permitted without an emergency sheet on file for the registrant. Online registration requires a Waiver Form be electronically signed, however an Emergency Sheet is still required for all participants regardless of how registration occurs.  Emergency Sheets are available online at the Rec website under “FORMS” or in the Rec office and can be mailed, dropped off, emailed or faxed to Rec.
